Jecinter Atieno Bonyo, Tusome Project

Jecinter Atieno Bonyo is a teacher in the slums of Kisumu, Kenya and has noted that a parent’s level of education has a multifaceted impact on children’s ability to learn in schools. Thus, Tusome Project was born. A group of teachers have united to provide after-school homework assistance to over thirty students performing at a below average level. Jecinter’s strategy involves outreach, training and linking families to education officials and resources in the community.
