Jane Frances and Ngoinsay Mufua, Combating Trafficking of Young Girls through Awareness Raising

Combating Trafficking of Young Girls through Awareness Raising, championed by the women’s right activist Jane Frances Mufua, aims to reduce the incidences of violence against women in rural communities in Cameroon. Cameroon is a Tier 2 List Watch Country, which means that the absolute number of victims of severe forms of trafficking is very significant or is significantly increasing and there is failure of evidence to show that government action is sufficient to curb trafficking. For this reason, the Centre for Gender Justice and Women Empowerment has committed itself through community outreach sensitization programs to raise awareness of the negative effects of trafficking both for the victim and the community.
