Irshad Ahmed and Sajeela Junejo – Training and Mobilization of Youth to Curb Early Marriages

Date grant awarded: June 18, 2018

Irshad Ahmed and Sajeela Junejo are the founders of the project, “Training and Mobilization of Youth to Curb Early Marriages”, located in Dadu, Pakistan. The Youth in the Sindh province of Pakistan tend to lack awareness and information on sexual and reproductive health education. Despite the efforts of the Sindh government, which passed a law to stop early child marriages in 2014, the law has not yet been implemented because of the lack of awareness.

Society for Development and Research will ensure training and mobilization of young people who will act as change-agents and prevent teenagers from having early marriages. They will educate the youth on sexual and reproductive health at the community level.
