Imari Keith, Healing And Cleansing Garden
At Leadership High School we have many students who come from low income communities and a majority of our students are people of color. At Leadership we learn about trauma and things that go on around the world. A few of our students have even conducted a study where they found that 85% of our students have gone through some type of trauma.
A while ago a group of students and I started to think about what we could do more to heal our students and we came up with the idea of a healing garden. In our garden we will have a memorial dedicated to our family members and friends gone too fast. So far we have been working with free things sourced from garden nurseries and donations from community members. However, we have big dreams and ideas for our garden. We are very excited to be receiving support from people outside of our friends and families.
