Heather Calcaterra, Project Personal Pack
Currently there are 13,000 Michigan children in the foster care system and while each one has a unique story, they all share the similarity that they must transition into a home that did not begin as their own. Each and every one of the 13,000 children must adjust to new people, places and routines, something that most adults would struggle with. Heather Calcaterra has established Project Personal Pack out of Lake Orion, Michigan, an on-going initiative that supports the basic hygiene needs of children as they transition into an out of home placement. Personal Packs are filled based on age and gender and include all essential supplies and distributed to non-profit childcare organizations.
