Jonathan Edzant – The “Serving Me” Gallery

Date grant awarded: June 22, 2018

The “Serving Me” Gallery is a photography gallery exploring gender, identity, and self expression. The title “Serving Me,” is inspired from drag culture. The question “who are you serving today?” signifies “what energy are you serving today?” A genderqueer person can feel more feminine some days, more masculine on other days, or anywhere in between. Ultimately, the answer is “I am serving me.”

The gallery will feature 15-20 large-scale portraits of young adults that identify as genderqueer or non-binary. The goal of each photograph is to capture each person’s energy and life story in an abstract way, and with the gallery as a whole, to show that despite our differences in self-identify, we are all human.
