Project Description: The “Photography Initiative: Through My Very Eyes” aims to teach photography and film-making to children from refugee camps and from the streets in hopes to nurture their talents. This project encourages children to tell their stories through the lens of a camera. Through this project, children are given a platform where they can tell their own stories through the lens of a camera. The stories have touched on human-interest topics that have affected these children in one way or another. This project covers stories that create awareness of issues such as, education, health, sanitation, prostitution, crime, drugs and substance abuse, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS, etc. and the culmination of these photos will be displayed as a street photography exhibition. This project enables children to exhibit their artistic abilities and stories in their community. The exhibition is always open to people from all walks of life.
