Fortress of Hope Africa – Leadership Academy Camp
Fortress of Hope Africa (FOHA) is a community based organization initiated in 2005 to empower less-fortunate adolescent girls, socially and economically, in Nairobi, Kenya.
FOHA projects and programs aim to equip less-fortunate girls with the social and economic skills they will need to be involved and actively participate in the development agenda of the country. The projects also aim at achieving behavior change among the girls by building leadership skills, increasing access to reproductive health along with HIV/AIDS information and services. They also offer a safe space and supportive environment, advocating and lobbying among the community leaders and members to end gender based violence. The program achieves this by offering financial literacy and business education to the girls in and out of school in the Dandora and Kayole slums.
FOHA believes that to empower a girl is to empower a whole village, and targeting adolescent girls is the key to reducing the current problems women face.
