The Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools (ERAFANS) exists to support nature-based early childhood professionals. Though the association primarily serves nature preschools and forest kindergarten practitioners, it also works with any and all early childhood educators who want to help young children connect with nature. Members also include educators from traditional preschools, childcare centers, in-home day cares, and those who need guidance to create a nature-based program or natural play space.

ERAFANS provides services, support, and inspiration for nature-based early childhood practitioners across the eastern region of the United States — and beyond. The association nurtures teacher networks on a local level through professional development offerings like retreats and seminars, in addition to online training opportunities.

Monica Wiedel-Lubinski, the visionary behind ERAFANS, works closely alongside nine other founding members and numerous partnering organizations. ERAFANS’ sole purpose is to help early childhood educators in their quest to connect young children with nature.
