Dayla Collins – Birthday Blessings!

Date grant awarded: July 21, 2019

12-year-old Dayla Collins was inspired to create birthday boxes when she was seeking to use her design, decorating, organizing and drawing talents to help others. Dayla reached out to local agents around her to see what she could help with and she was told that there is a specific void that needed to be filled. This void was the lack of resources that were made available to help foster and homeless children celebrate their birthdays.

Dayla understood immediately that she could help fill this void by supplying the tools that are needed to throw a birthday party. So then Dayla began creating pattern sets and researching cost for party supplies and toys. The birthday boxes will be given to local agencies to give caseworkers, foster parents, and other adults who care for children and youth to use as birthday celebrations.
