Dawn Folsom MIchah Dennis Josh Wiley – E.C.O ACCESS Youth in Action
Dawn Folsom, Josh Willey, and Micah Dennis created the E.C.O ACCESS Youth in Action program, located in Garrett, Indiana. The project aims to have youth experience how food is grown, why it’s important to have local food access, and to understand ethical practices. Their village farm will serve many through their collaborative efforts, providing a space for youth to learn, explore, and create meaningful experiences.
Their combined mission is creating innovative ways to ensure young people who experience adversity have support as they transition into adulthood. They create access to job trainings, mentorship, civic stewardship, and entrepreneurship skill building. The Village (Easing Childhood Poverty) and Heartvines Educational Farm, ECP have partnered up to provide outdoor recreational engagement/training for youth. With the grant from The Pollination Project, they want to develop scattered site gardens in the area that are easily accessible to youth, and they want to advocate for youth with local community developers/professionals on the importance of food access.
