Daniel Marita Juma – Sustainable Blight Tamer

Date grant awarded: 11/09/2017

Daniel Marita has started the Sustainable Blight Tamer Project, a project that uses natural herbs to find a remedy against tomato blight disease. With the increased price of agrochemicals, farmers are struggling and the lucrative venture of growing tomatoes has collapsed. This project is aimed at reviving this agribusiness to improve the standard of life for peasant horticulture and tuber plant farmers of Kakamega County, Kenya who are in the agribusiness of growing tomatoes, Irish and sweet potatoes, carrots and capsicum.
