Creating Freedom Movements: more justice, more joy
Creating Freedom Movements is a transformative year-long popular education program in the Bay Area that trains visionary skilled leaders, incubates grassroots social and environmental justice projects, builds beloved community and cross-issue solidarity, and fosters joy. The program features 9 months of weekly workshops in social movement history and analysis, the arts, healing practices, and practical skills — led by over 40 grassroots organizations and leaders who are among the most impacted by the issues they are teaching about — followed by 3 months of mentorship and cohort support as participants cultivate projects that increase justice and joy in their communities. These projects can be in collaboration with existing organizations or something new based on community needs/desires.
Through this intensive program, Creating Freedom Movements seeks to increase collective power and help heal people and the planet by moving from cultures of separation and domination, to cultures of connection and reciprocity. The Pollination Project grant will help Creating Freedom Movements pay the facilitators who are teaching the workshops.
