Cori McWilliams, Project Stow-It

A young girl is pictured holding plastic bottles and trash that were collected from the beach

The amount of debris that decorates the beaches in the United States is increasing at an alarming rate and thus Cori McWilliams has created Project Stow-It in Vero Beach, Florida, an extension of the “Stow It Don’t Throw It” program which originated on the west coast of Florida. This project involves repurposing discarded tennis ball cans into portable trash collection containers thanks to the members at Kids for the Sea. These containers will eliminate the onetime use of plastic bags while giving youth a sense of ownership and pride in creating and using their container to help clean up our planet.
