Colleen Mahoney, Jefferson Elementary Rainwater Catchment and Pollination Garden ProjectShare This:
The Kid’s Green Team at Jefferson Elementary School in Berkeley, CA, is made up of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who determined that they wanted to capture rainwater, store it, and use it to irrigate a new school pollination garden for the school. The project was supported with volunteer help of parents and family as well as Cal Engineers for a Sustainable World. Financial support has come from EBMUD, Mahoney Architects & Interiors, a BSEP Grant, and Pollination.org. This project demonstrates that kids can create legacy projects that conserve resources and improve our environment. The project serves the entire school community.
