Christine, Nicholas, Jane and Stephen – Sengenge Self Help Project
The “Sengenge Self Help Project” aims to help get clean and safe water for daily use In Nyango’ma Village of Central Sakwa, Bondo Sub-County, and Siaya in Kenya. The area residents have faced perennial droughts making it hard to supply enough water to the local water kiosks. Children usually miss out in school as they are forced to trek long distances for water, young women fear having to fetch water while visiting family during droughts, and donkeys are used to trek long distances to fetch water on a daily basis. Through this project, many local communities in Kenya will get access to clean water for daily use.
