Centreville Elementary School, Centreville Elementary School Farmer’s Market

To best support the school going children in Centreville, Virginia, USA, 23% of the students are provided with free and reduced lunches in addition to 180 backpacks being filled with food to ensure access to food over the weekend. The elementary school in town has created the Centreville Elementary School Farmer’s Market to increase the output of produce to best promote sustainability, local farmers, healthy eating and reducing our carbon footprint. Markets occurred weekly over the summer months and with a seed grant, these will continue throughout the year, allowing for families in need to have access to organic food and thus a healthy lifestyle.
