Jessica Candela, Butte County Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council is a group of young people in Butte County under the age of 25 who have experienced, or are experiencing difficult life circumstances such as: homelessness, foster care, incarceration, or poverty. The Youth Advisory Council is lead by the Facilitator and aims to develop well-being and leadership skills for its members.
In addition, the Youth Advisory Council aims to connect with local organizations to provide more culturally-competent resources for youth in similar situations. Finally, the Youth Advisory Council assists in advising the Butte County Runaway & Homeless Youth Task Force to ensure youth voice is included in developing appropriate resources and programs to better meet the unique needs of youth experiencing homelessness and other difficult life circumstances.
