Brenda Yancor, Los Angeles Rooted Queer Trans People of Color Bicycle Tour

Date grant awarded: May 8, 2016
Los Angeles Rooted is a collective that uses bicycles, food activism, zero waste practices and ancestral wisdom to nurture intergenerational health & resilience.  By organizing transformative summer programs and bicycle tours for youth, women and queer trans people of color, LA Rooted facilitates access to natural spaces, community history and practices that promote self love, community accountability and environmental stewardship for low-income communities of color.
“This grant will support LA Rooted’s Queer/Trans Youth of Color bicycle tour – a tour led by Queer/Trans adults for Queer/Trans Youth! This grant will allow us to create a bicycle touring gear library – we will have panniers, racks, and other materials that will support our first Queer/Trans Youth of Color bike tour specifically, but that can also be used to support other tours for low-income people of color.”
