Boresha Mazingira Mtaa Yako – Boresha Mazingira Koch: Transforming Public Spaces

Date grant awarded: September 8, 2018

Boresha Mazingira Koch: Transforming Public Spaces is a community project initiated by Ezra Otieno, a longtime community radio broadcaster and environmentalist in Korogocho, Nairobi. The project is meant to transform and reclaim the public spaces that have since been turned into dumping sites in the community of Korogocho and the surrounding villages. The project will also involve exposing the community to better garbage management and dumping.

They believe that by sensitizing the community and by reclaiming such spaces, they will be able to create enough spaces for children to run around and have a better environment in the community. The Pollination Project grant will help Ezra purchase garbage collection equipment, seedlings, and manure for planting.
