Date grant awarded: November 6, 2016

The 8,000 people in Kasulu, Tanzania have recently noticed the detrimental environmental changes happening in their community, including a decline in food production and the disappearance of water. The three shared hand pumps are filled with contaminated water and are left for families to drink, while the crops run dry. Benedicto H. Ntibikema and Adrophina Laurent have established the Rural Community Adaptation to Climate Change project to provide trainings in sustainable farming, entrepreneurship, microfinance and environmental conservation, allowing people to lift themselves out of extreme poverty without causing adverse impacts on the environment.
