In recent years the Ghanaian government has labeled the high maternal and infant mortality rate a national menace. In Akpafu Mempeasem, Asare Regina and Mr. Pewudie Emmanuel are dedicated to reversing this through their Traditional Birth Attendants Teaching Project. Through training Traditional Birth Attendants it is expected that antenatal, delivery and postnatal care will be improved alongside hospital referrals, trainings on environmental sanitation, personal hygiene, family planning and HIV/AIDS education.
