477 felines were euthanized last year in Big Stone Gap, Virginia simply due to the fact that no cat-specific animal rescue existed in proximity. The Appalachian Feline Friends are a hopeful 501(c)3 organization who have established a project in their name with the intent to promote positive community education via social media about spaying, neutering and responsible pet ownership. Together with a veterinary practice and low-cost neuter clinic, the project is organizing a no-kill shelter and low-cost adoption program to bring their furry friends into loving families.
