Antonio Mendoza and Hernánn Zabala – EnerGea – Plastic Upcycling Club
Plastic Upcycling Club is an initiative created by the co-founders of EnerGea, Antonio Mendoza and Hernánn Zabala, aimed to foster plastic recycling in the local community and raise awareness about plastic waste, making it “less abstract” by having the people recycle themselves using low-cost, low-volume machines. This enables them to convert their plastic waste into something they can use.
The pilot project consists of building the machines and using them in a campaign. Through this project, kids and youth will learn, meet people that have similar interests and will experience upcycling first-hand, and later multiply this awareness and good environmental impact.
