The Malezi School and Community Centre, located in the Kitui Ndogo slum of Nairobi, Kenya, serves 181 students living in desperate states of poverty. It is the first school of its kind in the community to offer low-cost primary school education to any child willing to learn.

The centre was started in 1996 by Teacher Grace Kavoi who simply wanted to be of service to the community’s youth who were being left unattended during the day, bound to repeat the cycle of poverty. Malezi, through great levels of sacrifice and dedication, has grown over the years into a vibrant platform of personal and community transformation. It boasts students who have found a path to higher education and has altered the fates of numerous children who were headed towards lives of crime and violence.

Malezi Centre was founded on the motto of Care, Love, and Values and how the implementation of these three values can help improve even the bleakest, most hopeless situation.
