Amy Bramlett, Hot Springs Dance Program (2015 Impact Grant)
Amy Bramlett is one of those teachers whose story should be in a “Made for TV” movie. A trained dancer, Amy ensures that her low income and “at risk” students at Hot Springs Middle and High Schools have access to dance classes and performance. Amy explains, “These 7th-12th grade students had never seen ballet, jazz, tap, modern, or even ballroom because 99% of them come at-risk homes where they may worry about how to find their next meal, their ride to and from school, and even where they are going to sleep night-to-night. I found myself not teaching classical dance technique, but also confidence, pride and respect.” Her impact grant will fund costumes and props that can be used for performances over and over again.
