Aggrey Avendi and Young Ladies Club CBO – Koch Tuna Uwezo (KTU)

Date grant awarded: September 19, 2018

Aggrey Avendi is the director and advisor for the project, Koch tuna Uwezo, located in Nairobi, Kenya. The project promotes the rights of young women in the slums of Korogocho. Aggrey Avendi wants to provide awareness on gender-based violence (GBV), training on reproductive health, and entrepreneurial empowerment for women though life skill trainings. The project also supports women in starting their own businesses. Koch tuna Uwezo is important for the community in Korogocho considering there is a high amount of gender-based violence. The project aims to restore rights to women, and advocate for family planning so that women can take care of themselves and their children.

The Pollination Project grant will help Aggrey Avendi continue with life skills training, and allow her to purchase necessary materials for the trainings and workshops.
