Academic and Career Development Initiative Cameroon (ACADI) – Textile Transformation Project (TTP)

Date grant awarded: 12/09/2017

The Textile Transformation Project (TPP) is an initiative through which Emmanuel Tangumonkem, founder and executive president of Academic and Career Development Initiative Cameroon (ACADI) addresses the problem of environmental degradation caused by dumping of textile waste from fashion designing workshops in Bamenda, Cameroon. The project is establishing an innovative value-chain for the collection and recycling of waste fabric into finished, socially acceptable products (pillows, curtains, dusters, clothing designs, etc.) thereby providing additional livelihood support for underserved and unemployed youths and guaranteeing sustainability. Since 2010, ACADI has worked towards providing capacity building, improving the livelihoods of Cameroonian youth while also engaging them in constructive nation-building.
