A True Change – The Purpose Initiative ASP

Date grant awarded: 02/24/2018

The Purpose Initiative After School Program provides support for at-risk youth and their parents with community support. Through the programs, youth participate in activities ranging from life skills to youth development opportunities. The weekly programming provides support and activities that cover such as conflict identification & resolution, anger management, impact on victims, self esteem, self-control, peer pressure, gang culture/lifestyle intervention/prevention, substance abuse and more. Youth have opportunities for support from Licensed Therapeutic Groups and one-on-one mentoring services, and gang-task intervention/prevention/suppression services. These services provide youth a positive adult role model and support for social and emotional development. Team building activities, nutritional snacks, life skill enrichment, and academic tutoring are provided to youth regularly. Special community engagement events are scheduled monthly, which include community guest speakers, family movie nights, parent connection meetings, and seasonal arts & crafts.
