“Temple’s Un-Included Club was featured in a Huffington Post piece profiling grassroots nonprofits this week. The Un-Included Club was founded eight years ago by Garfield Hawk, an East Temple man troubled by the options available to unsupervised children in his neighborhood. “He saw the little kids following after the big kids, and they were not making good decisions,” club president Doree Collins said. The mission of the club is for children to be “un-included” from negative life choices, such as drug abuse, obesity, teen pregnancy, gangs and illiteracy. The club offers activities and homework assistance from 3:30-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Fridays. “
