Sahara Huazano is an environmental studies professional who was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. After graduating with honors from the University of California Santa Cruz, for her outstanding thesis centered in the Coachella Valley, she has returned to work for her community in Eastern Coachella Valley as Lead in the Schools Action Team Campaign and coordinator for an action research project (YPAR) for Building Healthy Communities Eastern Coachella Valley, a health equity initiative of the California Endowment. In her current job, she fosters partnership with local organizations, residents, and youth for the common goal of making our community better by improving school climate through Restorative Justice practices. Ms. Huazano is an avid hiker, rock collector and loves sharing her knowledge about the environmental/geological history of the Coachella Valley. Her favorite trails are found in the beautiful Mecca hills.
