The Pollination Project grant inspired us to dream bigger. While Chilis on Wheels was born out of a need to teach my son about community, going through the process of applying for the grant challenged me to think about broader opportunities for community engagement. It transformed the idea of distributing food for 15 people into a limitless and budding organization currently distributing 800 meals a month, a number that continues to expand. It provided growth for me, inspiring to look further than my immediate ability to offer assistance to the community and see myself as a person facilitating others to have further reach. TPP inspired me to develop community organizing skills, calling upon other community leaders to form alliances and pool our resources for help to the community. Far more than just the money, TPP offers support and opportunities, connecting you to other change makers, and allowing you to grow far beyond what you initially suspect.
