Aneri Patel is an Indian American social entrepreneur who is creating more access to clean energy and clean water in developing countries. She launched a micro finance enterprise that works with Community Based Organizations in Uganda and India to support green technologies at the community level. Through a low interest revolving loan fund, EnVenture provides inventory to trusted CBOs who sell low cost clean cookstoves, solar lights, water filters, and fuel briquettes to the surrounding community. These technologies save money in the long term, and local, trusted CBOs serve as the distribution hubs.
To date, EnVenture has supported rural Ugandan CBOs launch 4 stores selling sustainable technologies and hopes to launch 5 brand new projects in 2016.
EnVenture also provides business and entrepreneurship support to “Last Mile Entrepreneurs” – the people behind these CBOs who need coaching and mentoring for their effort to be successful. In 2016, EnVenture plans to host their first entrepreneurship bootcamp in Uganda. Their total 2016 funding goal is $55,000.
