“Suehn Mecca District, Bomi County – Several villages in the Suehn Mecca District in Bomi County have received solar lights and signs billboard bearing the names of villages along the way to Monrovia. The initiative is funded by a Liberian based in the United States and is under the banner the village improvement project, Inc. The project according to the organizers is intended to help unlock the potential of village residents in rural Liberia, and will focus primarily on replacing kerosene lanterns with solar lanterns.”
“The project will also replace open fire cooking with improved rocket stoves and helping towns and villages become better known through the installation of reflective roads signs that identify towns and villages along national roadways leading to the capital city Monrovia. Mr. Richard Scott Field Implementation Officer for the project in Liberia making the donation to the villagers said Liberia has one of the lowest electricity access rates in the world with an overall total of less than 2%.”
