“American Kristin Braddock, 29, is not just in the business of selling handmade scarves. Her job, as she sees it, is to also tell the compelling story of the women of the Perna caste who make these silken accessories. New Delhi-based Braddock first met members of the Perna community in 2011 on a field visit to Najafgarh in the Capital, while working with an organization that fights sex trafficking. The non-governmental organization (NGO) wanted to enrol women from the community, who were being forced into prostitution by their families, into self-help groups.”
